While these aesthetic and beauty procedures are safe and effective, some patients may experience bruising as a side effect. There are measures that patients can take BOTH pre and post procedure to minimize the risk of bruising. Avoid Bruise-Prone Medications and Supplements Before Your Appointment

Some medications and supplements have the potential to increase the risk of bruising. We recommend discontinuing the following over the counter medications and supplements TWO WEEKS before any filler treatment to reduce your risk of bruising:

• Aspirin
• NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, and Motrin)
• Fish oil
• Vitamin E
• Garlic supplements (garlic in food is OK)
• Ginkgo
• Ginseng
• Ginger
• St. John’s Wort

These products can affect blood clotting and potentially contribute to bruising. However, after your filler treatment, you may resume taking these medications and supplements. It is important to note that if you are taking blood thinners for medical reasons, such as a history of stroke, heart attack, or clot, it is crucial to NEVER stop them for an injectable visit.
