Skin boosting is a technique that has been utilized in Europe for many years and which Dr. Holcomb has been performing since 2014. As we age, hormones and cumulative sun damage allow for the skin barrier to be lost, resulting in dry, dull, tired skin. By making small microinjections of commonly used fillers like Juvederm Ultra, Restylane silk, and Belotero we can improve the skin’s texture and hydration.
We know that the majority of hyaluronic acid fillers tend to absorb water and so we can use this to our advantage to grab and hold hydration beneath the skin, improving its texture and radiance. Hyaluronic acid, found naturally in the human body, supports skin and acts as a network to carry nutrients to our skin cells. When injected, the gel adds volume to the tissues and facial structures and draws water to the skin’s surface, keeping it looking supple and fresh. Additionally, the inflammation created by these micro injections stimulates the body’s own natural processes to produce collagen, thus giving a preventive effect as well. This technique can also be performed with PRP or combined with microneedling.
Because if its immediate and long-term effects, skin boosting is appropriate for all ages and skin types. It has very little downtime where there can be very small swellings or pinpoint bruises where we inject the hyaluronic acid. This can last for about 3-5 days. We also commonly alternate this treatment with another no downtime procedure at Pure Dermatology, PICO Genesis, performed about every month.
