Understanding Hair Loss

The medical term for hair loss is alopecia, and it can occur in many different forms. The most common types are male pattern hair loss and female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia. These are largely influenced by genetics and tend to become more noticeable as we age.

While there is no permanent “cure” for pattern hair loss, there are highly effective treatments that can slow shedding, stimulate regrowth, and preserve your existing hair when continued consistently.

Our Hair Loss Treatment Options

At Pure Dermatology, we use a comprehensive approach that may include prescription medications, topical therapies, nutritional supplements, and in-office procedures for maximum results.

1. Prescription Medications

Prescription oral medications are often the first-line treatment for hair loss. Options may include:

  • Finasteride, Dutasteride, and Spironolactone – to block the hormones that shrink hair follicles

  • Oral Minoxidil – to stimulate new growth

  • Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) – used in some scarring forms of alopecia

  • Antibiotics – in cases with underlying inflammation

2. Topical Treatments

Topical therapies work directly on the scalp and can be combined with oral prescriptions for better results. Options include:

  • Minoxidil (Rogaine 5%) – proven to stimulate hair growth in men and women

4. In-Office Procedures

For patients seeking more advanced treatments, we offer state-of-the-art in-office procedures:

Hair Exosome AnteAge Treatment

Exosomes are tiny, powerful particles used for skin and hair rejuvenation. They help
cells communicate with each other and speed up hair growth through hair growth
signaling pathways (specifically Wnt pathway). Exosomes can be added to the scalp
after tiny microchannels are made with laser or microneedling to enhance penetration.
We perform monthly treatments for 3 months using AnteAge exosomes. A booster
treatment is generally needed every 3-6 months.

Please come to your appointment with CLEAN, DRY HAIR and do not plan on washing
your hair for the first evening after your treatment. If you have extensions, please
contact your provider about how best to schedule your appointment.

AnteAge in-office hair exosome treatment is best combined with the AnteAge Home Hair Kit. To use this kit, drizzle 2-3 drops of serum onto your scalp, then stamp through
your scalp with the at-home microneedling device. Afterwards, brush gently with the massaging brush and then sterilize the microneedling device with included solution. This can be performed up to 5 times per week.

3. Nutritional Supplements
