Sculptra Aesthetic is unique filler because it works exclusively by stimulating new collagen growth. Sculptra is not an “instant filler” – the results are seen slowly and naturally after a series of treatments. Sculptra is ideal for men and women seeking a gradual and long-lasting treatment to restore facial volume. Scultpra can correct deeper folds, hollows of the cheeks, and can also restructure jaw lines. It has also become a favorite filler for body volumization and contouring as the stimulatory effect has impact on skin quality and tightening.
Treating the signs of aging requires a combined or “panfacial” approach since different dermal fillers work best for different concerns. Sculptra works best on the sides or lateral areas of the face to lift the cheeks, to fill the hollows of the temples, and to soften or improve shadowing of a gaunt, flattened cheek. Many patients report a “Sculptra Glow” – which refers to an improvement in skin quality after Scultpra injection because of the stimulation of collagen. Sculptra is now commonly used on the body to increase tightness and improve the appearance of loose or crepey skin of the arms, neck, thighs, and buttocks.
Sculptra Aesthetic is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, which acts as and collagen stimulator. Injection of Sculptra occurs within the deep layers of your skin to add volume and trigger your body’s ability to naturally produce collagen. This results in youthful fullness and firmness in a natural and subtle way. Sculptra Aesthetic can be used to add volume to compensate for the loss of facial fat, bone, muscle, and collagen that occurs as we age. Sculptra Aesthetic can help soften smile lines, reflate flattened cheeks, or restore a lax jawline without the need for surgery
Improvement with Sculptra Aesthetic is gradual and typically requires multiple sessions spaced approximately 4 to 6 weeks apart. The total number of vials needed for complete treatment is on average one vial per decade of life (example: a patient in their 50s would need 6 vials of Sculptra). We recommend scheduling treatments 6-8 weeks apart until desired effect is seen. You will be asked to massage the skin for 5 days after your treatment and this will be demonstrated to you before leaving your appointment. You can return to normal activities the next day after treatment.
We take comfort seriously at Pure Dermatology and apply topical numbing before each procedure. If you require medication to be relaxed, this can be discussed at your consultation. Since Sculptra may be placed deep on the face, there can sometimes be some soreness or discomfort of the temples or jaw for a few days, particularly when chewing or eating. Most Sculptra injections on the body have minimal discomfort afterwards.
It generally takes about 6 weeks for initial results to appear. Once you have completed your recommended treatment course, the improved look from Sculptra Aesthetic will last for at least 2 to 3 years.
This question must be considered on an individual basis. Because we massage Sculptra, we would not want to massage or move Botox that was placed in the same area as it could have side effects. However, It is safe to perform Botox and Sculptra at the same time on different areas on the body. Each product works differently in the skin, and Botox and Sculptra can be a powerful combination to achieve beautiful, natural-looking rejuvenation.
