Secret RF at Pure Dermatology

What Is Secret RF?

Pure Dermatology is proud to offer Secret RF, a new microneedling treatment that improves signs of aging skin, fine lines, wrinkles and scars with little to no downtime. Secret RF uses microneedles to deliver fractional Radio Frequency (RF) energy into varying levels of the skin including the deeper layers where treatment is most beneficial. This unique delivery of energy allows us to achieve optimal results on all skin types.

The combination of radiofrequency often results in mild skin tightening. Additionally, Secret RF tackles scars, stretch-marks, and skin laxity as well as signs of aging skin, leaving skin restored, refreshed and rejuvenated.

Secret RF is an easy, safe and effective procedure that can be performed in a quick, 30-40 minute treatment session after numbing. To achieve the optimal effect, 3-4 Secret RF treatments are recommended. You’ll start to notice results after your second treatment, but optimal results appear 3 months after the last treatment.

This very safe and effective procedure may be used to improve the following skin concerns:

  • Fine lines and moderate wrinkles
  • Stretch marks also known as striae
  • Acne scars
  • Large pore size
  • Neck lines or necklace lines
  • Skin revitalization
  • Dull skin
  • Dull Complexion
  • Blackheads
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Skin tightening
  • Sun damaged skin and premature aging
  • Scars from injury or surgery
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Mild skin laxity
  • Adding luminosity to the skin
  • Active acne (especially when combined with topicals)
  • Skin tone and texture
  • Crepey skin of the neck, knees, and upper arms

Is Secret RF Painful?

We take patient comfort very seriously at Pure Dermatology, so numbing cream is placed before every procedure for 20-40 minutes. The skin is prepped in a sterile manner and a thin layer of sterile topical gel will be applied to your skin. Depending on the procedure chosen, the sterile disposable tip of the vibrating microneedling pen or stamping Secret RF will be gently pressed against the skin in a uniform pattern. This process results in thousands of superficial microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area activating the body’s natural restorative processes to transform the treated area into smoother, clearer, more vibrant skin. Patients may experience mild discomfort. With Secret RF, some patients feel heat and pressure on the areas being treated.

Before & After

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as skin needling, Skin Pen, Micro Pen or collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology procedure that stimulates collagen growth and improves the appearance of skin. A small handheld facial rejuvenation device with very tiny sterile needles on its tip, is used to produce controlled micro-injuries in the skin to activate the body’s natural restorative processes to transform blemished and damaged tissue into smoother, clearer, more vibrant skin. Noticeable changes occur after each treatment, however it isn’t until the end of the series that you will see optimal results.

What is Microneedling with PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) may be combined with microneedling.  Platelet Rich Plasma, made famous by Kim Kardashian as The Vampire FaceLift, contains growth factors that stimulate stem cells within your skin, activating new, healthy tissue. Microneedling creates “injury” to the skin, therefore tricking the body into healing itself while creating direct channels for PRP to be delivered.  Microneedling ensure PRP’s valuable growth factors are penetrated deep into the skin’s dermis. PRP can also be injected into areas of the face, such tear troughs and upper lip lines, producing dramatic results without increasing volume.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

For optimal results, 3 treatments are recommended. For maintenance, most patients opt for 1-3 treatments per year. For deeper problems such as scars, deep wrinkles, or stretch marks, 6-8 sessions may be required. Improvement to the treated area begins at 2-3 weeks and may continue for up to 6 months after the treatment.

What Can I Expect After My Procedure?

Compared with epidermal abrasion techniques and ablative lasers, most people have little to no downtime with both microneedling and Secret RF. There is a lower risk of infection as well because the channels close shortly after the treatment. Compared with photorejuvenation lasers, IPL or other aesthetic lasers, there is rarely swelling with microneedling and Secret RF beyond the day of treatment.

Secret Rf and Microneedling do not completely erase pigmentation, but they are very low risk of worsening pigment while also treating other concerns. These treatments reduce the appearance of pore size, treat wrinkles, neck lines blemishes, acne scars, and stretch marks. Secret RF and microneedling both have minimal downtime.

Even though Secret RF is considered a stronger treatment, it has less downtime than microneedling because the heat seals up the bleeding from the micro-injuries. Patients look like they have a sunburn which can last a few minutes to a few hours. Any minor redness or swelling resulting from treatment will subside within 12-24 hours. After the treatment, you can expect to return to normal activities. You will be asked to refrain from wearing make-up for several hours and acid products or retinols for a few days. Skin may be slightly flaky, but you can safely resume normal skincare the next day and should resume your sun protection.
